The sanctions imposed on Valencia FC following the racist insults suffered by Vinicius Junior during Real Madrid’s trip to Mestalla last Sunday have been reduced by the appeal committee of the Spanish Federation.
New twist in the Vinicius Junior case. On the move last Sunday on the side of Valence with his team of real Madrid, the Brazilian striker was taken to task by supporters present in the stands and was targeted with racist insults. What cause a real outcry at different levels. Subject input, the commission of the Spanish Federation had decided two days later to sanction Valencia, with the closure for five matches of the Mario-Kempes stand. A fine of 45,000 euros had been added to the club. But on appeal, the sanctions were greatly reduced.
As confirmed Super Deporte, the appeal committee first reduced the partial closed session imposed on the Valencian stadium from five to three matches. And at the level of the fine, again it is a drastic reduction since the latter has gone from 45,000 euros to 27,000 euros. The famous Mario-Kempes stand, however, will not be open on Sunday against Espanyol Barcelona, on the occasion of a crucial match for the maintenance of FC Valencia in La Liga.
Grandstand closed, but tickets on sale
An astonishing fact is also specified by the Spanish newspaper: the club has nevertheless maintained the sale of tickets for the tribune supposed to be closed on Sunday. Ten thousand sesames would have already found takers. Be that as it may, the decision of the RFEF appeal committee could provoke some reactions.
