Six months after the resignation of Mohamed Lacette, the Algeria U20 team is about to pass into new hands.
According to information from the Belgian media walfoot, the reins of the selection will be entrusted to the former Algerian international Samir Beloufa (9 selections). The latter had been free since the dismissal in February 2022 of Coach Marc Wilmotsof which he was the deputy at Raja Casablanca.

Before joining the staff of the former Belgium and Ivory Coast coach, the former AC Milan defender spent three seasons as an assistant on the bench at Royal Antwerp (April 2018 to June 2021), seeing successively parade László Bölöni, Ivan Leko, Wim De Decker and Rudi Cossey as main coach. As second to Croatian Leko, the native of Melun won the Belgian Cup in 2020, the only trophy on his list. His first role as head coach dates back to 2017-2018, with the club Mariaburg VK.
Samir Beloufa against the wall
While the officialization by the Algerian Football Federation (FAF) should not take long, Beloufa will take over a U20 team under construction. The Petits Verts remain in particular on a bad campaign during the UNAF 2022 Tournament (last in the group with zero wins in three games), which deprived them of qualification for the CAN U20, won on March 11 by the Senegal by Lamine Camara.
Unlike the A team, the U20s and U17s are lacking convincing results on the continental scene. reacting to the elimination of the U17s at homein the quarter-finals of the CAN category against Morocco on May 10, the coach Arezki Remmane pointed the finger ” Several things “ To ” see again “, “from bottom to top”.
