Asvel made a great “climb” in the semi-final return of the French women’s basketball championship this Saturday. In the final, the Lionesses will face Villeneuve-d’Ascq.
Clearly dominated this Tuesday in Bourges in the first leg of the French women’s basketball championship (80-67), Asvel found itself in a situation that could not be more delicate, with a handicap of 13 points to fill. In its room at the Astroballe, the Lyonnaises have nevertheless managed the feat of turning the tide in this double confrontation. Carried by a Blake Dietrick, top scorer with 23 points, the Lionesses have however slowly started their “remontada”. It was at the heart of the second quarter that they took a significant advantage and constantly increased (50-40 at halftime.

In the second half, Asvel mastered its subject and increased its lead to 20 points at the final buzzer to reach the championship final (93-73). The international tricolors Marine Johannes (15 points) and Sandrine Gruda (11 points) brought their stone to the building. In the final, the club chaired by Tony Parker will face Villeneuve-d’Ascq. The Northerners for their part did not tremble against Lattes Montpellier. Victorious in their away final (60-75), the future finalists confirmed this Saturday at home (73-70). Thanks among others to Kariata Diaby. The pivot scored 20 points and grabbed 8 rebounds.
Asvel and ESB Villeneuve will face each other in a double confrontation on the same format, back and forth this Wednesday and next Saturday. In the event of a tie at the end of these two duels, a great match will then take place on Monday, May 22.
