PSG and Manchester United have started discussions on the possibility of bringing Brazilian playmaker Neymar (31) to Old Trafford, according to information from L’Équipe. The 31-year-old is seriously considering leaving the French capital after sealing a record €222m move from Barcelona to PSG six years ago, and the Ligue 1 leaders won’t stand in the way of their player’s desire to leave.
Neymar is linked to a contract with PSG which is due to expire in 2027, but the French club’s desire to place Kylian Mbappé (24) at the center of its sporting strategy is not to the liking of the Brazilian.
L’Équipe claim that several Premier League clubs have entered into talks with PSG over Neymar, and the most advanced at this stage are with Manchester United. The fourth-placed Red Devils need just one point to qualify for the Champions League next season. With rivals Manchester City on course to seal a treble, United need a show of force this summer to close the gap with their neighbours. Talks are said to be active between all parties involved. Brazilian midfielder Casemiro (31) would push his compatriot to join him.
Manchester United would favor a loan while PSG would prefer to let go of Neymar with a permanent transfer. A meeting is expected between PSG Sporting adviser Luis Campos and the player’s entourage. L’Équipe add that Chelsea are still monitoring the player’s situation but his failure to qualify for the Champions League could prove detrimental to their efforts to sign Neymar.
