Pavard, a “hyper violent” episode forgotten?
Three months after a 2022 World Cup which he spent on the bench, Benjamin Pavard was again called up by Didier Deschamps. Like nothing ever happened. Some were surprised.
World champion 2018 with the France team, Benjamin Pavard experienced a very serious downgrade four years later, in the middle of the 2022 World Cup. Yet holder for the first match of the Blues against Australia, the player did not appreciate to be placed on the right and showed it very clearly to his coach. Message received (and not appreciated) for Didier Deschamps, who sent him to the bench until the end of the competition. While many thought Pavard’s tricolor adventure was over, “DD” still called him for the first gathering of the Blues in 2023. Which raised some questions.
For some observers, the decision of Didier Deschamps to summon Benjamin Pavard has something strange. This is the point of view expressed by Jérôme Alonzo on Thursday on the channel The Team. ” I have the impression that we act as if nothing had happened with Pavard during the World Cup. Seen from France, it seemed very violent to me. […] We had debates, we were all affected because we thought that Pavard had been burned at the stake, that stones were being thrown at him in the public square, at the limit by saying ‘it’s him, it’s him, it’s him’. »
“Actually, he’s my friend”
Referring to the coach’s choice, the former PSG player continued by speaking in place of Deschamps: ” Well, actually, everything is fine. ‘We talked a lot, in fact it’s my friend Pavard’. And to justify his astonishment again. ” It’s just for the human side, obviously not sporting, which surprised me. And we evacuated that by saying ‘with Pavard everything is fine’. We saw that at the World Cup (it was wrong). It’s the past, it’s swept away, but I was a little surprised. “It therefore remains to be seen what the future role of the former holder will be in the right lane of the France team.
