Stade Toulousain have announced the extension of the contract of their 24-year-old winger Matthis Lebel until June 2026.
Born in Toulouse 24 years ago and trained at Stade Toulousain, where he arrived in 2014, Matthis Lebel will stay in the Pink City for at least three more years. The winger has indeed signed a new lease with his old club, where he is now engaged until June 2026. He was under contract until June 2023, with an optional year, but he finally returned for three . “It’s a kind of continuity, confirmation, in the sense that I want to continue to grow with the club and give back to the club everything that can bring me outside of rugby. I had the chance to play a lot this season, last year too, and to have playing time, so I hope it will continue for many more beautiful years.“, says Lebel in a video published by his club. The Toulousain started in the red and black jersey in 2018 and has since played 97 games with his club (78 in the Top 14, 19 in the Champions Cup), scoring a total of 39 tries (32 in the league, 7 in the European Cup ). This season, Matthis Lebel has already played 25 games, including 24 as a starter, in all competitions, and scored 8 tries. He also has five selections for the France team, between November 2021 and November 2022. Not selected for the last 6 Nations Tournament, he seems to have little chance of playing in the next World Cup.
Already seven extensions this year in Toulouse
The extension of Matthis Lebel’s contract is part of the “trajectory 2027” operation launched by Stade Toulousain, which is based on three axes: extending the managers, strengthening the workforce and growing with training, to remain at the top of French or even European rugby for at least the next four seasons. This is how since the beginning of the year, Jack Willis (2026), Dimitri Delibes (2026), Rodrigue Neti (2026), Hugo Reilhes (2025) Ian Boubila (2026) and Joel Merkler (2026) have signed a new lease with the Rouge et Noir.
