The equalization of the head signed Aursnes (1-1, 38th), responding to the opening of the score of a Barella (1-0, 14e) already a scorer in the first leg, did not have the effect of shaking the foundations of the Lombard house.

In less than a quarter of an hour, Martinez (2-1, 65e) and Correa (3-1, 78e) killed the suspense, which perhaps allowed Benfica to afford a last stand. Lisbon still scored nicely with a header, by Antonio Silva, (3-2, 86e), before equalizing after additional time thanks to Musa (3-3, 90e+4).
