Everton player arrested on suspicion of child sex offenses

PROSECUTOR are currently investigating the case of an Everton star arrested on suspicion of child sex offences.

The Premier League player, who cannot legally be named, was detained by police in July 2021 before being released on bail.

The Crown Prosecution Service have now confirmed that a dossier of evidence has been passed to them by the police, reports the Mirror.

A spokesperson said: “We received an evidence package from Greater Manchester Police on January 31, 2023 following an investigation into allegations of multiple sex offences.

“We are reviewing this material in accordance with our legal test.”

The CPS will now consider the evidence to decide whether or not to charge the player.

Police were rushed to the star’s home in July 2021 where “several items were seized”.

The international player has been suspended from Everton while police investigate the allegations.

A team statement at the time read: “Everton can confirm they have suspended a player pending a police investigation.

“The Club will continue to support the authorities in their investigations and will not make any further statements at this time.”

The alleged offenses were described as “very serious” with an investigation by Greater Manchester Police’s Major Incidents Team.

In a statement, the force said: “Officers arrested a male on Friday July 16, 2021 on suspicion of child sex offences.

“He is on police bail pending further investigation.”
