Still in the race in the qualifiers for the CAN U23, qualifying competition for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, Algeria has come a long way!
Indeed, the Fennecs U23 were initially eliminated by DR Congo last October when they entered the second qualifying round (1-4, 3-1). But the Congolese were eventually disqualified since they should in theory be suspended for these playoffs. Following this decision, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) had initially indicated that the two teams eliminated by the U23 Leopards, Ethiopia in the first round and Algeria therefore, would face each other in two matches of dams.

Except that the Ethiopians have withdrawn and it is therefore the foals of Noureddine Ould Ali who find themselves qualified without playing for the last round of the playoffs against Ghana, announced the Algerian Football Federation (FAF) Wednesday!
Place in Ghana
“Following Ethiopia’s notification of non-participation in the second round of the CAN U23 qualifiers, the national team is considered the winner and automatically qualified for the final round against Ghana. Therefore, match 57 will be played in Algeria on March 24, 2023 at the May 19, 1956 stadium in Annaba and match 58 will be played in Ghana on March 28, 2023 in Kumasiβ, explained the authority. The winner of this double confrontation will validate his ticket for the final phase which will take place in June 2023 in Morocco. A completely unexpected outcome for the Fennecs U23!
