Neighbors Senegal and Gambia will face each other on Saturday in the final of the CAN under 20, in Cairo, Egypt. With the ambition of registering their name for the first time in the prize list of the competition.
It was the expected final. Since the start of this CAN U20, Senegal and Gambia have been the two teams that have made the strongest impression. Thus, the two West African neighbors have won their 5 matches in this tournament, all without conceding a single goal! On the other hand, the two attacks were a hit with 12 goals scored by the Cubs and 10 by the Scorpions. In the semi-finals, Gambia shook to the end to eliminate Nigeria (1-0)while the Senegalese took advantage of opposing errors to teach a lesson to Tunisia (3-0).

Inevitably, given its status as a landlocked country in Senegal and the hours of glory that its neighbor is going through, winner of the CAN with the A’s in 2022 and of the CHAN with the A’s at the start of the year, one could think that the Gambia was going to leave with a form of inferiority complex. However, there will be nothing!
The Gambia without complexes
“It is a small country, the Gambia, which now plays in the big leagues. (…) Senegal is an extraordinary team but so are we. They’re grabbing everything right now. We must stop them on March 11“, thus warned the Gambian coach, Aboulie Bojang. There is no more…
