Barcelona have reportedly identified Royal Antwerp’s Arthur Vermeeren as a possible replacement for outgoing midfielder Sergio Busquets.
Recall that Busquets had since announced that he would leave Barcelona at the end of the season.
According to Spanish journalist Gerard Romero, Vermeeren is seen as one of the six players who can replace Busquets at Barcelona.
Romero has claimed on his Twitch channel that the 18-year-old, who is also a target for Manchester United this summer, is on Barcelona’s transfer wishlist.
“Arthur Vermeeren, an 18-year-old Belgian player who currently plays for Royal Antwerp FC in the Belgian first division, is the name that enters the list of players as possible replacements for Busquets for the sports management of Barça.
Apart from Vermeeren, Romero added that Ruben Neves, N’Golo Kante, Sofyan Amrabat, Martin Zubimendi and Guido Rodriguez are Barcelona’s other targets.
Vermeeren’s contract with Royal Antwerp will expire in 2026.
