ASVEL was heavily beaten by Partizan Belgrade 92-71 on the 22nd day of the Euroleague and sees the Top 8 move away. The only consolation: Nando De Colo is now three points away from the record for the number of points scored in the competition.

The thinning will have been short-lived for ASVEL in the Euroleague. Victorious over Milan and Fenerbahce in the last two days, the Villeurbannais fell back into their ways by bowing heavily on the floor of Partizan Belgrade, tenth in the standings. The Serbs won 92-71 and sink a little more the champions of France, antepenultimate. There was no photo during this meeting, which was tight only for the first three minutes.

At the end of the first quarter, Partizan (where the Frenchman Mathias Lessort plays, author of 10 points) was already leading 25-16, then the gap continued to increase during the second, and the Serbs returned to the locker room leading 50-36. There was no miracle for ASVEL in the second half, far from it. Partizan widened the gap to +29 in the third quarter thanks to a 12-0 (75-46), then loosened the grip very slightly in the last, for a final victory of 21 points.

The record for De Colo against Virtus?

Two ASVEL players still survived during the sinking: Yves Pons and Youssoupha Fall, who both finished with 14 points and 6 rebounds. But it’s still an eighth defeat in 22 games for TJ Parker’s men in the Euroleague. They are now four wins from eighth place, while there are still twelve games to play, including the next against Virtus Bologna (12th) on Friday.

A match against the Italians which should be an opportunity for Nando De Colo to go down in history a little more, by becoming the best scorer in the history of the competition. Author of 7 points against Partizan, he is now three points away from beating the record held by Nick Galis (4,904 points). The Astroballe can already prepare to celebrate it!
