Marco Asensio has changed his mind. According to information revealed by ‘Relevo’, the player is going to reject Real Madrid’s renewal offer and will leave the club after 7 seasons defending this shield.
Lately, everything seemed to indicate that the 27-year-old winger would stay with ‘Los Blancos’. His agent Jorge Mendes and the club have been in talks for several months and are trying to bring the two teams together, but in the end they have finally distanced themselves for good.
At first, Madrid made him a first offer during the World Cup in Qatar, which was recently improved. The club acknowledged his good performance despite not being an indisputable player (he scored 12 goals and provided 8 assists), but that wasn’t enough for him.
The source said that Asensio’s reasons for leaving were simply sporting. He’s been left out of the starting XI in all important games and doesn’t want to continue as a substitute. Because of this, he will seek a bigger role away from the Spanish capital.
