The dispute between the selection of Cameroon and the equipment manufacturer Le Coq Sportif is not close to being resolved… The CHAN 2022 has indeed just given rise to a new showdown between the two parties.
In a letter signed on January 31 and which leaked to the local press, Le Coq Sportif accuses the Cameroon Football Federation (Fecafoot) to continue to use its equipment illegally. “It has been brought to our attention that your selection always sported our products during sports tournaments such as the African Nations Football Championship which is currently being held on Algerian territory.“, thus denounces the mail. During the two matches played at CHAN 2022 against Congo (1-0) and Niger (0-1), the Indomitable Lions A’ sported jerseys stamped One All Sports, their new equipment supplier, but the accusations from Le Coq Sport bear maybe on training or non-game outfits.
Le Coq Sportif pins Fecafoot!
“We can therefore only be surprised at the manifest contradiction resulting from the preceding elements, especially since you publicly affirmed yourself, on November 9, that it was with good reason that you had terminated our contractual agreements.“, is surprised the firm, denouncing the actions “characteristics of manifest bad faith“. “In any case, in addition to the absolutely considerable prejudice suffered resulting from your deliberate refusal to perform your contractual commitments, in particular during the last World Cup, the fact that FECAFOOT avails itself of this contractual package unilaterally, partially and when it sees fit, naturally causes our society a new and particularly significant harm.

Recall that Fecafoot had unilaterally terminated its contract with the French brand last August by denouncing the non-compliance with its contractual obligations. Le Coq Sportif then turned to justice and the Paris court ruled in favor in November by ordering the maintenance of the contract until December 31, 2023. The firm had nevertheless promised a truce during the 2022 World Cup so as not to disturb Eric-Maxim Choupo-Moting and his teammates. This one is obviously finished!
