Youssef Msakni, player of Al Arabi, has just been voted best player of the 2002-2023 season in Qatar. This award, given by the Qatari Football Association, is more than logical given his performance.

Not for Youssef Msakni, who doesn’t care. So of course, thetunisian international does not play in one of the most highly rated championships in the world, and his only European escapade was limited to half a season at KAS Eupen (Belgium) in 2019, but its performance remains remarkable.
Author of 13 goals and 5 assists in 20 league games with his Al-Arabi team (2nd in the standings), he dazzled with his class and especially his sense of goal the Qatar Stars League 2022-2023 vintage. The trophy for best player of the season was therefore awarded to him for the second time in his career, after that gleaned in 2017-2018. He was evolving at the time in the ranks of Al-Duhail.

A frame in selection
Youssef Msakni is not content to shine in the little media Qatari championship. He is also an active and regular member of his selection, with which he has 91 selections for 18 pawns. A total which allows him to appear in fifth position of the best scorers in the history of the Tunisian selection, just behind Adel Sellimi and his 20 goals. Even if the adventure was short-lived since they left in the first round, he was in the group during the last World Cup, as captain, playing the first two games there.
During his last selection against the Libya (3-0), which counted for the playoffs of the AFCON 2023, Msakni even scored the first goal of the match in the 18th minute, thus launching his team on the hats of wheels. The Tunisians’ next match will take place on June 17 in Equatorial Guineastill in the context of qualifying for the next African Cup of Nations.
